TEL BAAN (Wedding day, morning)
Ritual bath performed on the morning of the wedding day 10 July. Sunita is being 'prepared' for the wedding by all close family members- Mustard oils, fresh milk curds, mehandi (henna) and haldi (turmeric) are made into a paste and applied on the feet, hands, shoulders and head during 'tel chadhana' (head, shoulders, hands, feet during 'tel utaarna'). This symbolizes the cleansing and preparation of ones mind, body and soul before embarking upon the path of marriage. The bride is then taken for a bath.
